If your organisation uses peat commercially, joining the Peatland Restoration Foundation provides a simple and credible pathway to contribute to peatland restoration.
Membership allows companies to actively support the recovery of peatland ecosystems while collaborating with peers across the industry.
Step 1 – Express Your Interest

Step 2 – An Independent Consultant Assess Your Annual Peat Use
An independent, highly qualified consultant who is one of the leading experts in peatland restoration will work directly with you to assess and confirm what your company’s monetary annual contribution towards the Foundation would be which is directly linked to the tonnes of peat you use per year.
There is a small monetary fee to have your peat usage fee calculated which is £700 exc VAT per company. This is to pay for the consultants time and direct coordination with you to assess your own, bespoke peat use. The results will never be shared with the wider group and only shown to our delivery partner Caledonian Climate.
Step 3 – Annual Membership Contribution
Members contribute their annual subscription based on their peat usage (see Step 2).
This ensures that contributions are proportionate and directly linked to the use of peat resources.
Funds raised through membership are used to support peatland restoration projects.
Step 4 – Restoration Projects
All restoration projects are carried out between October to December each year, with results published the following year so all monitoring is fully transparent.
